	I would like to Thank Mr. Provenzale and his staff for building such a MAGNIFICENT professional stage for our school. His plans far exceeded our expectations and we are all awestricken with its beauty. Family and friends are welcome to join us for our Drama Club&amp;rsquo;s productions on Saturday, May 19th in our school gymnasium. There will be two plays; Twinderella directed by Mr. Chatfield and The Tale of Snow White directed by Mrs. Peregord. We will have two shows per play:

	Please join us for our Band Assembly on Thursday, May 24th at 1:00 PM in our school gymnasium. In addition, all are welcome to join us for our All School Living Rosary on Thursday, May 31st at 7:45 AM in the church. This will be a Dress&#45;up Day (non&#45;uniform day) and students are asked to &amp;ldquo;Dress&#45;up&amp;rdquo; in their &amp;ldquo;Sunday best&amp;rdquo;. Appropriate attire must be worn. No denim items may be worn. Skirts and dresses must be of uniform length and modest (no spaghetti straps). No crocs, flip&#45;&amp;shy;&#8208;flops, or backless shoes and always socks must be worn.

	Thank you Mrs. Krogman, Miss Kelley, eighth graders and the second graders for leading the school community in a prayer service honoring Mary, the Mother of God, and crowning her with flowers. It was a beautiful May Crowning Prayer Service.

	Basketball Lil&#39; Shot Camp @ St. Mary (Grades K&#45;2)

	Lil Shot Camp is from 12:30 to 3:00: June 18&#45;22, Grades K&#45;2
	Big Shot Basketball Academy enters its 19th summer providing basketball fundamentals, competition, and enjoyment for boys and girls in the greater Cleveland area and is conducting this program at St. Mary. This camp will give the young player a chance to build a sound, fundamental base for the game of basketball.
	Registration Fee is $100 (includes T&#45;shirt and Basketball). Download the flyer

	Basketball Skills and Drills Mini&#45;Camp (Girls in Grades 4 &#45; 8)

	Camp is from 9:00 am to 11:30 am July 2&#45;3 @ St. Mary Avon

	Camp will include fundamentals of shooting, ball handling, footwork and defensive play. Games will be played with an emphasis on the skills learned. Mary (Fox) Fischer, Assistant Basketball Coach at Magnificat High School, will coordinate the
	camp. Registration Fee is $35 (includes camp T&#45;shirt). Register

	Volleyball Mini&#45;&amp;shy;&#8208;Camp (Grades 4&#45;&amp;shy;&#8208;8)

	Camp is from 9 am &amp;ndash; 11:30 am July 5&#45;6, Grades 4&#45;8
	Girls will receive instruction and drills in setting, hitting, blocking, individual defense, serving, forearm passing and team play. Morgan Hunt, Avon Assistant Coach and SMS teacher, will coordinate the camp.

	On behalf of the faculty and staff, thank you families for your beautiful flowers and plants, they really brightened up our days. The teachers really enjoyed their appreciation week and all the extra wishes and gifts from you. THANK YOU PTU for a wonderful lunch today and PARENTS for your help chaperoning lunch/recess and the classrooms while the teachers enjoyed a delicious meal and an extra long lunch period. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Walther and her committee for all your time and effort you put into making this an exceptional week for our teachers! Words cannot express how grateful and appreciative we are for all that you do...our PTU and families are the Best!!

	Thank you Sr. Thomas and Miss Dunegan for preparing the second graders for their First Communion Day, the Mass was beautiful and they were all so angelic and precious to watch. Congratulations second graders, now you can join our School/Parish community in receiving the Blessed Sacrament of Jesus.

	LEGO ROBOTICS (BEGINNING LEVEL) June 25&#45;28 10am to 3pm
	OPEN TO STUDENTS IN (OR GOING INTO) GRADES 4&#45;8, 28 student maximum

	Make sure you bring your brain, creative spirit, a motivation to succeed and be prepared to have a blast!&amp;nbsp; Students will spend their mornings learning about the various components used on the LEGO Mindstorm Robotics Kit and then put that learning into action as they try to beat activity courses in the afternoon using the mini&#45;robots.&amp;nbsp; This 4&#45;day camp will include lessons on how to design, build and program robotic sensors and motors to achieve an assortment of fun &quot;challenges.&quot;&amp;nbsp; Formulated for students&amp;mdash;both boys and girls&amp;mdash;that have little or no experience using robots, this compelling course will spark imaginations and promises to be a fun and memorable time!&amp;nbsp; Students will need to bring bag lunch each day.

	CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY July 16&#45;19 10am to 3pm
	OPEN TO STUDENTS IN (OR GOING INTO) GRADES 4&#45;8, 28 student maximum

	4 days, 4 different subjects!&amp;nbsp; Utilizing both computers and iPads, students get to experience an assortment of creative outlets in art, music, photography and robotics.&amp;nbsp; Day 1 enters the art realm where students get to practice drawing and painting on a digital canvas.&amp;nbsp; Day 2 explores digital music creation with instruments like virtual drums, guitars, keyboards and even their own voices.&amp;nbsp; Day 3 delves into digital photography and the magic that happens after the shutter has been snapped.&amp;nbsp; Day 4 examines the world of robotics and teaches some basic programming of the LEGO Mindstorm robots (**different from the other Robotics Camps).&amp;nbsp; This camp is designed to expose students to some of wondrous ways technology can be used for creative endeavors and give them to time to play with a digital palette of tools.&amp;nbsp; Students will need to bring a digital camera with a memory card on Day 3.&amp;nbsp; Students will need to bring bag lunch each day.

		<description>Thank you for your support of Boosters Night at the Races, St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s School is truly blessed with a wonderful family community. Our Junior High students had an awesome time touring Washington D. C. last week as well as being enlightened by the monuments and museums.

	Please do your best to help support St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s School &amp;amp; Knights of Columbus Super Cash Bonanza Fundraiser. I am asking that each family purchase at least one ticket at a cost of only $5 per ticket for a chance of winning 1 of 25 Cash prizes and St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s School could receive $2.10 for each ticket purchased. Tickets sales are due by May 16th.

	Robotics
	Robotics Registration for the next Science Series will be held on Thursdays, May 10th (Part 1) &amp;amp; May 17th (Part 2) from 2:15&#45;3:45 pm. This Robotics lab will be open to students currently enrolled in grades 3&#45;8. Students will learn the components of a pre&#45;assembled robot and how to do some basic programming and then try to complete course challenges utilizing the mini&#45;robots they have programmed. A flier with more information is included in your Friday Folder and/or information is on our website.

	I hope you had a Blessed Easter with your family and an enjoyable spring break with your children. After spring break, it always seems like the remainder of the school year flies by very quickly! Please keep our second grade students in your prayers as they attend their Jesus Day Retreat on Saturday, Sr. Thomas has many fun activities planned for the day.

	As a reminder to our kindergarten parents only, there will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, April 24th and Wednesday, April 25th due to our screening process for next year&amp;rsquo;s prospective Kindergarteners as the teachers will be administering the screening tests. Classes will resume on Thursday, April 26th. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

	Please do your best to support St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s Boosters &amp;ldquo;Night at the Races&amp;rdquo; in the school&amp;rsquo;s gymnasium Saturday, April 21, 2012. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the races begin at 7:30 pm. The $15 ticket price covers your admission, beer, wash and light snacks. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. Music and dancing to follow the races. Dress is casual, so wear your lucky shirt and favorite derby hat! The Boosters would like to thank you for your continued support of St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s!
