Rationale Our school’s dress code is intended to:
• Strengthen school pride and a sense of belonging to this educational community,
• Provide formation in good grooming and the importance of personal appearance and neatness of dress;
• Simplify life and lessen the distractions of fashion pressures in the school environment.
Uniform jumpers from Schoolbelles, hemmed no shorter than two inches above the knee, are the dress uniform of St. Mary School—jumpers from other vendors are NOT our school uniform and are out of dress code. Simple white blouses with collars and with no design stitching are to be worn with the jumper. (Girls in fourth grade may choose the uniform skirt instead of the jumper.) All girls are required to purchase at least one uniform jumper for dress uniform days.
A more casual option is to wear navy blue or khaki tan slacks, appropriate length skorts or skirts from Schoolbelles or nearly identical items from another vendor worn with a white blouse or a polo shirt. Color options for the polo shirts include white, navy, light blue or the new two-toned options: navy with khaki trim
or khaki with navy trim. The two-toned shirts must be purchased from Schoolbelles to assure uniformity of color and shade.
In the fall (August to October 31) and spring (April 15 to the end of the year), navy blue or khaki tan walking shorts (or Bermuda shorts that are right above or below the knee, no longer) may be worn. (Navy blue or uniform plaid skorts may be worn in place of shorts according to the same length guidelines.) These shorts must be from Schoolbelles or be nearly identical to those from Schoolbelles. Shorts may not be shorter than two inches above the knee, and they are to be worn with the polo shirt.

Black, navy or brown shoes are to be worn. They may be athletic type shoes or dress shoes. These shoes need to be a solid color with minimum design. A final decision may be needed from the principal in some cases. No sandals, clogs, Crocs, “heelies” or shoes with a higher than normal heel may be worn. Dress socks are to be worn at all times and should be solid colored navy, white or khaki tan. During the "shorts season," low athletic type socks may be worn.
