This year's first Student Council meeting was held October 23, and the group did not shy away from jumping in with both feet.
Students broke out in groups to discuss and plan service projects for the year, the first of which was announced the following day. They had heard earlier in the school year that local food pantry, North Ridgeville Community Care, had been running low on supplies for their clients. Each student in the school was asked to bring at least four items over the course of the few days following, and support of the cause was embraced.
On Tuesday, October 31, several students, accompanied by a parent volunteer, loaded a van jam-packed with donations from St. Mary families. Said Student Council Advisor Mrs. Brooks, "The Student Council's Food Drive went fantastically...Thank you St. Mary's for making this Food Drive a success!"
Students who participated in the drive were thanked with a Halloween dress down day to celebrate a successful "flash" food drive.
