Several St. Mary classes have opted to take part in International Classroom Day on Thursday, May 17.
The day began in 2017 to encourage the use of outdoor learning environments. Research has shown that children thrive when classes are tought outdoors, and St. Mary is proud to have an outdoor classroom and prayer gardens that have been used regularly since their completion in 2015.
While all classes regularly make use of our dedicated outdoor space, several grades have made the commitment to partake in this international say to join the movement in demonstrating the importance of outdoor learning for students' education. Aside from the obvious health benefits of being outdoors, outdoor learning and play have been shown to "boost problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity."
