Saint Mary School is now an EdChoice provider and accepts those state scholarships towards the cost of tuition. The tuition for the 2024-25 school year is $6166. The family obligation will not exceed $4,300 if that family applies for the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship and FACTS Grant & Aid (which encompasses Parish Scholarships, the Angel Scholarship, and Diocesan Tuition Assistance). It is important to note that tuition and fees cover about 75% of the annual cost to educate. The difference comes from state funding, fundraising, donations, and parish support. Most of the expenses of the school relate to salaries and benefits. While we do not offer multiple child discounts, we are able to offer tuition rates comparable with our local peer schools in Avon, Avon Lake, North Ridgeville, and Elyria.
Option 1
Full Tuition
$6166/student (No EdChoice/Scholarships)
Family obligation is the full tuition amount
Option 2
EdChoice Only
$6166/student minus the EdChoice Award
Family obligation is the amount that remains
Option 3
EdChoice with Scholarship
$6166/student minus the EdChoice Award
Must apply for scholarships in FACTS.
Family obligation capped at $4300/student
Option 1 does not require any participation in the EdChoice program nor applying for any other form of financial assistance. Choosing Option 1 means the family obligation is the full $6166 per student enrolled at Saint Mary School.
Option 2 means the family agrees to participate in the EdChoice program, submitting the application and any required support material necessary for approval. The family obligation would be whatever amount remains after the EdChoice award is taken out of tuition. As an example, if a student receives a $5200 award from EdChoice, the remaining $966 would be the family obligation. If that family in that example has two students at the school, the amount would end up being $1932 ($966 * 2). For returning families who were approved for EdChoice during the 2023-24 school year, they would simply need to fill out the application and provide a copy of a current utility bill to renew for the upcoming school year. The income verification process does not have to be done again.
Option 3 is available to those who are open to participating in the EdChoice program and are looking to reduce their family obligation further by applying for the range of scholarships offered through a single application process using FACTS. With this option, the family obligation would be capped at $4300/student after taking the EdChoice award and all scholarships into account. Those scholarships could include the Angel Scholarship, Diocesan Tuition Assistance, Fund-A-Dream, parish scholarships and more. As an example, if a student receives a $650 award from EdChoice, the family could receive awards that would further reduce the tuition—in some cases by hundreds or thousands of dollars—but this option ensures the family obligation does not exceed $4300/student and could even be lower with available scholarships.
REGISTRATION FEE
There is a $300/student registration fee has also been finalized and will see an increase of sixty-five dollars to be $300 on a per student basis. This fee historically includes a portion earmarked for keeping our technology up-to-date. That being said, using grant money we’ve received, every classroom and student piece of technology has been updated within the last year, including 115 new iPads, nearly 100 Chromebooks, laptops and SmartPanels. Given that, we will be suspending the technology portion of the registration fee for a three-year period and use those funds and the additional fee amount to establish the emergency building fund as mentioned above in
Priority 2. With our current enrollment, that will allow nearly $20,000 to be set aside annually for the next three years to address issues that could potentially come up with the school building. Along with certain textbooks and supplies that cannot be purchased with state auxiliary funds, our registration fee also covers the student assessment fee from the Diocese, which tripled in price for the upcoming year.
